2018 arrived before we knew it and I experienced a significant decline in my mental well-being. I reached a point where I couldn't step out of the house without meticulously planning the location of every public toilet along the way to where I was going. There was an instance when I had to resort to using a coffee cup in an emergency, a memory that still haunts me but is regularly joked and laughed about. It was an overwhelming and distressing experience at the time and very hard to explain what it felt like but was consuming me everyday. After undergoing tests and surgery to address my persistent problems which I thought was from induction medications, I came to acknowledge that it was all rooted in my mind. I also discovered the benefits of counseling providing guidance and support in managing my issues.
Our little home in Arrowtown was a reminder of all of our hopes and dreams being taken from us in the loss of Lenny that we decided to pack up and move to Christchurch, New Zealand. I had become very emotional when opening wardrobes to find Lenny's pram or car seat stored away. We knew we needed a fresh start so had followed that gut feeling and moved. We are so thankful and feel Lenny was watching over us and guiding us as we both secured government jobs and were set financially during the horrendous covid lock downs/ country lock downs. I'm forever grateful for the lifelong friendships we've made and have still to this day.
We were fortunate enough to buy a home in Woolston, Christchurch and completely renovated throughout to sell for a large profit. We were working from home in 2020 when a full lockdown order was in place when I experienced an ectopic pregnancy, I was grateful to have this picked up early enough and was offered surgery or an injection to medically terminate, I chose the latter and still regret this decision as the methotrexate injection really messed with my body and hormones.
After months in lockdown and not knowing when we were be able to visit and see our family and friends, we decided to pack up and make the move back to Australia at the start of 2021. We jumped straight into buying land within our home town to build a home and meshed straight back into day to day life like we never left.
